Jóhanna av Steinum got her degree as a professional fashion and knitwear designer from the prestigious Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design in London where she graduated in 2007. She has since continued to work for the institution and in 2008 she went on to teach her own fashion students in design and knitwear at BA(hons) level.

She has also launched her own exclusive knitwear label under her sir name "Steinum".

As well as producing her own label, Jóhanna is currently collaborating with Faroese woolwear label "Sirri" where she already has designed a wide range of knitted and wowen garments for men, women and children currently in production and on sale..

Jóhanna has also designed a small clothing range for Roklina under the name "Roklina by Jóhanna"
