Karin Højsted Brattaberg is born in the village Funningur in the Faroe Island during the first world war. Karin developed together with her husband Árni the idea behind Sirri - to utilize the natural resource availabe in the Faroe Islands - to use the Faroese wool and create a product which is unique and which acquires a special significance for the user.
Karin also created the brandname ”Sirri” - the invisible tie between man and sheep. She ofcourse new that when the Faroese shepherd calls 'sirri, sirri, sirri' the sheep come running…….
Sirri began its activities in 2000 and since then the purpose of the production has been to produce different modern designs creaed by Faroese and international designers. The international designers have visited Sirri as a part of their design-education. Karin has been the leader off this work combined with doing a wide range off Sirri designs for men, women and children”.
